Can my site really be seen by the whole world  ?

Yes! In fact it can. Once your site is published it becomes accessible to anyone who has access to the World Wide Web.

My site was just published, why can't I find it using a search engine?

As there are literally millions of web sites in the world, it can take weeks or even months for the major search engines to register your site in their databases. However, using "meta-tags" and key words behind the scenes, this process can be greatly expedited

What is a web host and what do I need one for ?#3

A web host is essentially a special computer owned and maintained by a company that does nothing but provide homes for web sites. The computers they use are especially cared for and prepped to provide web developers with all the special elements they need to properly publish your site and ensure that all of its elements function properly. Every web site is hosted by one of these specialized companies. Altasta will help you find the best host for your site.

How much will my web site cost ?

The answer to that question is dependant on many variables. All of which will be discussed and explained by Atlasta before any financial commitments are made.

Are there reoccurring charges ?

Yes. Though these charges tend to be minimal. One of the first steps in establishing a web site is to reserve a domain name with a reputable organization associated with ICANN (ICANN (pronounced /aɪkæn/, eye-can) is the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. Headquartered in Marina Del Rey, California, ICANN is a California non-profit corporation that was created on September 18, 1998 in order to oversee a number of Internet-related tasks previously performed directly on behalf of the U.S. Government by other organizations, notably IANA.

Most if not all of the organizations that register domain names offer reduced rates the longer you reserve the name for. E.g., a 1 year reservation might cost you $25 to $35 dollars. A 5 year reservation might reduce this from $25 per year to $19 or $15. This fee is paid in advance for the duration of the reservation so if you reserve a name for 5 years, it will not be due again until the 5 years are up.

The other reoccurring charge is paid to the hosting service mentioned above. These fees range for approximately $15 to $25 dollars per month. Again, Atlasta will help you find a host that offers the services you need at the lowest cost possible.

How can I make changes to my site ?

Once the site is completed, it belongs to you in its entirety. Atlasta will always be pleased to make updates to your site for a nominal and negotiable fee. Many site owners choose to learn enough about HTML (Hyper Test Markup Language) to make their own minor updates such as text and pictures.

Atlasta does not hold a site owner hostage in this manner and if the site owner so chooses, Atlasta will teach you what you need to know in order to be independent from Atlasta. However the majority of site owners choose to reach an equitable arrangement with Atlasta and leave the work up to the professional.
